9/17/2012 - WASHINGTON, DC -- From September 11 -14, 2012 a new class of 26 Air Force Mediators were put through Basic Training at Maxwell AFB. Although there were no PT tests or drill instructors, the Basic Mediation Course was rigorous, thorough and very useful. Airmen from various backgrounds learned the facilitation model of mediation to help mitigate disputes at various bases around the world. Each year, Alternate Dispute Resolution helps save the Air Force money by resolving disputes before a formal legal process is involved. SAF/GCD's Sarah Stanton kicked off the training by introducing the class to the GCD office and purpose, the mediation process and how to initiate a mediation session. Graduates from the class will now spend a minimum of two years mediating Air Force dispute cases.
